The Secret Dish: A Campo de' Fiori Food Tour, 8+ Tastings

One course on this route is not on the list. The Secret Dish arrives without being announced, and you find out what it is when it is in front of you. Everything else is declared: pizza straight from the oven, handmade pasta, supplì, cheeses, wine, and artisanal gelato to finish. Eight tastings and more. The walk between them is a decent tour of the old centre on its own. It starts in Piazza Navona, whose long oval shape is the running track of Domitian's stadium, still visible in the outline of the buildings that grew over the seating. Past Palazzo Farnese, one of the great High Renaissance palaces in Rome and now the French embassy, so the facade you look at is a working diplomatic building. Into the Ghetto, created in 1555 in the Rione Sant'Angelo, where the Roman Jewish kitchen developed under confinement and stayed. The Fountain of the Four Rivers, with its Egyptian obelisk and the dove on top. The remains of a 2nd century BC walkway that linked two temples. Campo de' Fiori, whose name means field of flowers, because that is what was there before the market.
