Rome by Night for Families, with Pizza and Gelato Included
An evening walk through the centre with a guide who works with children, and two food stops that are part of the booking rather than an extra. The hour is the argument. Once the day visitors have gone back to their hotels and the traffic thins out, the centre of Rome is quieter, cooler and easier to walk with children in it. In July and August that difference is not marginal. The route takes the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Column of Marcus Aurelius and the squares between them, all floodlit. Treasure hunts, quizzes and games run alongside, which keeps children involved while the adults get the history. Pizza and gelato come from traditional makers, along with drinks, and both are included in the price. The walk starts at Piazza delle Cinque Scole, by the fountain in the middle of the square, and ends at the Trevi Fountain.

Campo De' Fiori
Rome in the evening is a better city than Rome in the afternoon. The day visitors have gone, the hotels have filled up, there are fewer cars and scooters, and the whole centre slows down. The walk starts at Campo de' Fiori, where you meet your family guide.
Piazza Navona
In the summer heat the evening is the sensible time to walk. Even the sights you saw during the day look different once the sun is down and the monuments are lit, and you get them in a calmer atmosphere.
Pantheon
The route covers the main sights of the centre, with a stop at the Trevi Fountain. It is built to be entertaining as well as informative, so children take some history home without noticing.
