Rome by Golf Cart: the Main Sights Without the Walking
A private tour in an electric golf cart with a local guide driving, which solves a specific problem: Rome's monuments are a long way apart and the cobbles are hard on everyone, particularly children and anyone whose knees have opinions. Pick-up is at your hotel if it is inside the city centre. If it is not, the cart collects you at Piazzale delle Canestre in the Villa Borghese gardens. The route takes the Colosseum, the Palatine, Piazza Venezia with the Vittoriano and the balcony Mussolini used, the Trevi Fountain, the Circus Maximus, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, with the guide talking as you go and stopping wherever you want to get out. One thing to sort out in advance: the Pantheon is seen from the square on this tour. If you want to go inside, book your own ticket online beforehand. The cart is electric, so it goes where cars cannot and makes no noise while doing it. The tour ends with a drop-off at Piazza Barberini.

Colosseum
The Roman empire through the buildings it left standing, and the layer of the city that predates the popes. Roman influence still runs through western government, engineering, architecture, language and law. The tour starts at the Colosseum, which is where most people start understanding that.

Piazza Venezia / Ancient City
Along the Vittoriano, the monument to Victor Emmanuel II, first king of Italy. Two things to look at from the same spot: the monument Romans call the wedding cake, and the balcony Mussolini spoke from.
Trevi Fountain
The Trevi Fountain, and the coin. The cart takes you there; the wish is your own business.
The biggest of all Roman circuses
The largest of all the Roman circuses, with room for more than 200,000 spectators, built for chariot and horse racing. Ben-Hur was shot here.
Pantheon
The most valuable single building in the city and one of the oldest Roman temples still standing, with a long history behind it. Note: to go inside the monument you need to book your own ticket online.

The square takes its name from the Spanish embassy to the Holy See, which stands on it. It is also the best shopping quarter in Rome, with the Italian fashion houses all within a few streets. End of the tour, with drop-off at Piazza Barberini.
