The food here is the same as on the group version, and so is the route. What changes is everything around it. Start times are negotiable rather than fixed, and dates that show as full on the shared tour can open up when it is only your party. The group is whoever you booked with, nobody else. That means you can ask the guide why Roman pizza is thin and Neapolitan pizza is not, and get an actual answer, instead of catching half of one over the shoulder of a stranger. Eight tastings and more. Pizza straight from the oven, homemade pasta, supplì, cheeses and wines, artisanal gelato to finish, and the Secret Dish, which is not announced beforehand on any version of this tour. The walk covers Campo de' Fiori, whose name means field of flowers; Palazzo Farnese, one of the great High Renaissance palaces in Rome and now the French embassy; the Jewish Ghetto, created in 1555 in the Rione Sant'Angelo, where the Roman Jewish kitchen took shape; the 17th-century Fountain of the Four Rivers with its obelisk and dove; and the remains of a 2nd century BC walkway between two temples. It ends at Largo di Torre Argentina, above four Republican temples and the ruins of Pompey's Theatre. Meet under the Brazilian flag outside the Brazilian embassy, Piazza Navona 14. The guide carries an orange umbrella.
