Pantheon Semi-Private Guided Tour Meeting in Piazza Capranica
The group meets in Piazza Capranica ten minutes before the start, looking for the Kirba Tours sign or flag, then walks the short distance to the portico. What the guide works with, once inside, is mostly light. The room has one opening and it is nine metres wide, directly overhead, and everything you can see is lit by whatever the sky is doing at the time. A bright morning and an overcast afternoon are two different buildings. Around that, the stories. The Pantheon began as a pagan temple whose plan carried meaning that a Roman visitor would have read without being told, and it became a Christian church, which is the reason it is still standing rather than quarried for its marble. The guide covers who is buried here and how each of them came to be. Depending on the option chosen, the tour runs in a small group or privately.
