A private tour with an officially licensed guide, and two things to sort out before you arrive. The first is the ticket. The guide buys it in advance on your behalf, which means sending a message after booking with the full name and age of everyone coming. That is not paperwork for its own sake: admission to the Pantheon is issued in the visitor's name and the document is checked at the door. The second is what you wear. Shorts, short skirts and sleeveless tops are not admitted. The building is a working church and the rule is applied at the entrance, not apologised for afterwards. The tour covers the temple founded in 25 BC and why it mattered more than the others, the Corinthian columns of Egyptian granite you walk between, and the original marble floor underfoot. It takes in what held Raphael's attention enough that he arranged to be buried here, and closes on the engineering: how the dome stands, and why nothing of the kind was attempted again for centuries. Note the terms: this sale is final.

The history of the best preserved building of ancient Rome, founded in 25 BC, and why this temple counted for more than the rest. You walk between Corinthian columns of Egyptian granite and across the original marble floor of the temple.
