Opera on the Borromini Terrace above Piazza Navona
An opera concert in the open air, on a roof above Piazza Navona, with an aperitivo in hand. The programme is arias and duets by Verdi, Rossini and Puccini, sung on the Terrazza Borromini at Via Santa Maria dell'Anima 30, the terrace looking down on the square. Roman evening air, the roofline of the centre in front of you, and voices without amplification between you and it. The Italian aperitivo is included and served on the terrace during the concert rather than before it. After the music there is a guided visit to the other rooftop terrace in the building, La Grande Bellezza, where scenes from the film that won the Academy Award for best foreign film were shot. Paolo Sorrentino used real Roman roofs rather than sets, and this is one of them. The evening is shared and capped at thirty people.
